My daughter and I will be staying here but spending are time at the loa angeles convention center is this anywhere close what means of transportation do they have

LA Convention Center is approximately 10 miles from the City of Commerce.
I assume you are staying in a private home since there would be absolutely no other reason to stay in Commerce. If so, I would strongly suggest that your hosts drive you to the Convention Center. Other methods would be taxi or public bus.
The City of Commerce does provide free bus service but ONLY within the city itself.
