Sunday, October 28
We started the day by driving back down Highway 1 to Point Lobos. Another beautiful day for a hike through the cypress groves and then a visit to China Cove and Bird Rock.
We then drove out Carmel Valley Road to the Wagon Wheel Coffee Shop for an excellent breakfast.
Afterwards, we drove through town and parked near the beach. We watched the surfers and spotted some dolphins. Then, we continued along Scenic Road to Carmel River State Beach and then on to Mission Ranch and the Carmel Mission.
The mission was free to enter on Sundays but there was a wedding going on and we couldn't enter the chapel. The roof was also under repair so pictures were not that appealing. The museum though was very interesting and worth visiting.
It was early afternoon now, so we started our return journey back up Highway 1 towards home. We went through Santa Cruz and Half Moon Bay both jammed with people since it was a beautiful day and the last Sunday before Halloween (for pumpkins).
Then, it was up through San Francisco, across the Golden Gate Bridge, and an hour later, we were home.
I've put this day on a blog page with more descriptions and a few pictures. You can find it here:
