Good Pub food

We will be in Carmel for only one night. After a day spent hiking, we are looking for a good place to eat that is extremely casual (jeans) and within walking distance to the Normandy Inn. Thanks for your recommendations!

Demetra Cafe is very casual with great food. We walked there from the Normandy when we stayed there. Enjoy your time in Carmel. :)

Most of the restaurants in the area are casual. Flaherty's has a delicious oyster chowder.

Carmel's entire business district is within easy walking distance of your inn. There are multiple restaurants on every block, and the variety is overwhelming. They range from formal to informal, high-priced and moderately priced, American, Mexican, French, Italian, German, Scandinavian, Greek, Chinese, Japanese, Californian, you name it, Carmel has it (except for fast food and national chain restaurants). You really can't go wrong at any of these places.

Good suggestions have been offered so far. Keep them in mind, but don't lock yourself into any one restaurant ahead of time. Once you're here, you may be in the mood for something else entirely, and your innkeeper can advise you on where to find it.

Fun, casual place for Mexican is Club Jalapeno. If it's chilly out and you'd like something cozy, try Patisserie Bechler and sit by the Fireplace. It's a bakery, as the name implies, but they serve from a full dinner menu. For very good Italian, Little Napoli is the place--extensive menu. With the exception of a few upscale places, Carmel is casual and jeans are fine.
