Concours D'Elegance

Hi,

This will be our first time to California. Coming in for the Concours D'Elegance August 17-22. Flying into San Francisco, staying in San Jose. Any suggestions for "must-do's" while in Carmel/Monterey/San Jose?

Any suggestions appreciated.

San Jose:

San Jose Winchester Mystery House; then

stroll the shops/restaurants across the street at Santana Row..

Go to Tech Museum in San Jose and see an IMAX show:

Go to Great America - Santa Clara

Then drive to Gilroy and see Bonfante Gardens

Also drive from San Jose to Santa Cruz

If interested in trains and redwoods, go to Roaring Camp Railroad:

In Santa Cruz, visit the Boardwalk:

Then drive down to Monterey:

In Monterey definitely go to Fisherman's Wharf Monterey

Then go to Monterey Aquarium:

Then drive to Asilomar State Beach - beautiful walk ways and ocean area:

And then go 17 Mile Drive and spend time there. This is also where Concours d'Elegance will be:

Visit also the Carmel Shopping area (and if you like golf, try to book a golf tee reservation in Monterey/Carmel area)

You have a "too full" itinerary already - but if you have time the drive South of Carmel is very beautiful.

In particular Point Lobos State Reserve is very worth a spot:

2. Re: Concours D'Elegance

Take the Route 1 drive down through Big Sur.

Have lunch at the Post Ranch Inn, the view is spectacular.
