Most local taxi's have a set rate from the airport to Beverly Hills or Downtown for $50. You need to ask them upfront when you get in otherwise they will put the metre on.

The shuttle services cost about $25 for each person and take you all over the place to drop off the other people. Taxi is better.

You can catch a Downtown bus from the airport, then from Downtown there's a bus that will take you to Beverly Hills - from memory it dropped me off on Santa Monica just past the Beverly Hills police station.

A taxi would be easiest by far. By bus, first you have to take a free LAX shuttle bus to parking Lot C of the airport. From there you can take Santa Monica Big Blue Bus Rapid #3 to 4th St. and Santa Monica Blvd., and from there take Metro Bus 704 to Wilshire Blvd. and Santa Monica Blvd. where the Hilton is located. So, taxi / shuttle is a lot easier.

A bus is much too complicated to the Hilton, you have to take a shuttle or a taxi.

When on vacation, your time is valuable - so spend money to save time. Take a taxi.

Let's clear up some inaccuracies:

1. There are no 'fixed rate fares' to Beverly Hills. Any taxi driver who quotes a $50 fixed rate to Beverly Hills is cheating you (unless you're traveling in the middle of 'rush hour' since the rate using the meter is less than $50 -- about $40 + tip. There is a fixed rate to downtown of $46.50

2. The shuttle services charge $15 or $16 (depending on the company you select).

3. If you were to use the municipal bus system, the quickest route wouldn't involve going to Santa Monica (which would take forever). Instead, you'd take the Culver City #6 bus to Santa Monica Bl and then transfer to the 704. This would still take about 90 minutes when you include the time it takes to shuttle from the airport to the bus plaza next to LAX.

4. Going to Beverly Hills via downtown is also an extremely indirect method of transfer that would take a long time.

You COULD take the Westwood Flyaway (express) bus to the Westwood neighborhood (25 minutes without traffic -- $10 per person) and then transfer to the Hilton using one of these methods:

a. Walk to the corner of Wilshire Bl & Westwood Bl (5 minute walk). Then take the 720 Rapid Bus on Wilshire Bl to the corner of Santa Monica Bl (8 minutes, $1.50) which is adjacent to the hotel.

b. Take a taxi from the Flyaway depot in Westwood (7 minutes/ $15 including tip).

Note: the Westwood Flyaway runs only once per hour so this might not be the fastest option for you.

You could rent a towncar to pick you up and drive you to your hotel for the same cost as a taxi!
