We are an elderly couple with some sight problems who are doing one of those "finding roots" trips to Scotland this Aug of 2009. We have a very limited time in the highlands so have to get as much into one day as possible. My grandfather was born in Culkein so off we go. Have traced our journey by Citylink bus to Ullapool, arriving there at 16:20. Would like to get to Lochinver to overnight there. Is there a bus from Ullapool to Lochinver that leaves after 16:20? I understand that we can get a ride into Culkein with the postman fairly early in the morning, but how do we get back to Lochinver after doing our proper investigations of the family heritage? I realize this requires very detailed knowledge of the area but I'd appreciate any information you can give me, including B&B recommendations and whether at that time of year we would have to make advance reservations in Lochinver.
