My husband and I will be in Paris from Sunday, May 23- Saturday, May 29 (assuming we can make it there with the BA strike and volcano ash...but let's think positively!). We know we want to take a good part of one day to go to Versailles. Are there any days that are better than others, in terms of smaller crowds? I am not concerned with being there when the fountains are on, since they are only on during the weekends this time of year and probably makes for huge crowds.
I am also taking into account that a lot of the museums in Paris are closed on Monday/Tuesday, meaning it may be good to go one of those days to leave the others open for museum hopping.
