Butterworth to Surat Thani Train - bed make up time?

Anyone know what time the beds get made up on the Butterworth to Surat Thani (on to Bangkok) train? We are travelling with small children and I have booked sleepers even though we will have to get out at Surat Thani around 11pm. Was wondering if the guards will make the beds up early if requested?

We did make a train trip in 2009 from Bworth to Hua Hin.

Train have a brief stop at Haadyai and then dinner is served after 7pm. Bed is made up around 8-8.30pm.

Each passenger occupy a 2.5 ft hard seat bench. To make up a bunk bed, the guide will need to join 2 benches facing each other to form a bunk , then he will top up with a mattress, pillow and blanket. 1 passenger will be having an overhead pull-out bed(similar to the aircraft handluggage overhead ).

If you can book seats facing each other, then the guard can make the bed earlier.

FYI, the overhead bed is smaller than the bottom bunk. Best to bring some food as the menu onboard is limited. Bottled drinks is sold on board.

Thanks Cassandra, I have done this journey many years ago, but couldn't remember. We have 4 seats booked all facing each other, so hopefully we can make them up early. I will buy snacks in Penang to take with us too.
