Stayed there over easter for single night. Average place, but getting there is quite a problem b'coz roads are terrible. You will need a 4x4. There are 2 routes that you can take to get to Bilashaka. One route is from Moi South lake & other is road turning into the Rift Valley Lodge off NBI Nakuru highway.

Route from Moi South lake is nearer.

As for the lodge, the rooms are very good. The food is mediocre.

At night, hippos come out onto lawns to drink water from the swimming pool.

The lake is not accessible b'coz of bushes/shrubs.

Overall opinion: go somewhere else as it's quite isolated.

I've been to Bilashaka lodge several times. The place is beautiful serene and lots of wildlife around the lodge (hippo at night, tommy's, gazelle, waterbuck, giraffe, buffalo, ...). A very interesting point is the combination of flower farm and safari lodge. If you are interested in what a flower farm looks like in Naivasha, go visit this place! And the rates are very acceptable compared to many other lodges around the lake. Food is fine, atmosphere relaxing. You can also rent the place self catered (wth a group) if you like.

About accessability: also without 4x4 you can reach Bilashaka farm/lodge, but you need to drive slowly as the gravelroad isn't that good all year round. During rains it can get slippery. have fun!

bilashaka lodge was our first stop in kenya and we loved it. ingrid and joost (the owners) are very kind and helped us to plan our trip around kenya. for us it was the perfect start of a great trip in a wonderful country.
