Hi there

Lots of restaurants in Padstow but prices have been driven up by the fact that loads come to the town now to see all of Rick Stein's places (restaurants, gift shops, coffee shops, etc). I suppose it all depends upon what you want to eat for your fifteen quid. If you want a bistro type meal then you will get a main course for that but probably not much more.

Your best bet would be to opt for a pub-style lunch where you can eat well for around £10 pp, often to include dessert. Everywhere will have their menus out on the pavements, and the pubs all have A -boards advertising their prices and menus.

If travelling on a Sunday, many food pubs now offer Sunday roast for around £7 for two coursea and £10 for three.

As long as that price doesn't include wine and you're willing to limit yourself to two courses then you've got loads of choice:

Mary B Cafe has always done great lunches and new for 2008 they've got their alcohol licence and are doing evening food. Well within your budget you'll be able to get local smoked fish, local cheese, tapas etc. Great lunch and/or light meal option.

Margot's Bistro - always booked up months in advance with great, fresh local produce on offer. Even their 5 course tasting menu only costs £30.

Custard Diner - newly opened in 2007. Funky decor and food pitched somewhere between Stein's Cafe and Stein's Seafood Restaurant. Might be a bit more than £15 for two courses but not by much.

Stein's Cafe - great atmosphere and really nice simple food. Main courses for about £10.

Basement Cafe - not been there in a while but was pretty good when we last went.

Pescadou - good local steaks right on the harbour edge.

and of course all the pubs!

Another recommendation for Margot's Bistro, if you can get a table.

Margot's...2 course set price is £21.50 at the moment. If your in Padstow before Mid March Number 6 are doing a Lifeboat Lunch for £20 for 3 courses with £5 going to the RNLI which has got to be a great deal.
