Exit fee at the El Calafate airport

Just a fyi for any travellers on their way to El Calafate. Just returned from the region last week and was suprised when informed at the airport ticket desk that there is a $38 peso exit fee which is payable before entering Security. Be prepared to wait in a long line to pay your fee therefore account for this when arriving to the airport.

I had never read anything about the fee at El Calafate either, so we were surprised with it when we went to go through security. I believe there may be one at Trelew also.

Yes, for sure there is a departure fee in Trelew too. We paid them in El Calafate and Ushuaia too. The airport where we did not have to pay a departure fee is in Buenos Aires at the international airport when leaving the country. Also be careful not to have too many pesos left when you depart. At the exchange counter when leaving we were told that we needed a bank statement showing our exchanges in order to get any other currency for the remaining pesos. We only had ATM receipts which did not help.

FIORASI RENT A CAR is a POLICE CASE, because a car rented in El Calafate airport booth , in a unpleasant way we discovered, that wasn't with the mandatory documentation of the vehicle. When we arrived at LOS GLACIARES National Park, PERITO MORENO, the Park Rangers withheld on the grounds that we couldn't continue with the documentation of the vehicle losing the insurance obligatory, and we ought to return to EL CALAFATE and tell the police. When we return, we explain the situation occurred to MR FEDERICO in FIORASI RENT A CAR agency, that aggressively , threatened and held our credit card. Just find a solution following the guidelines of the Park Rangers. We do not recommend hiring in FIORASI rent a car, look for international companies.
