Day trip to Iguazo Falls? |
|
Next February we will be in Buenos Aires and wish to go to Iguazu Falls. We understand there is a morning flight from BA at around 7:50am and a return flight at around 5:00pm. Here are our questions; 1 What does the flight cost? 2 How do you get from the airport to the Falls, and what does it cost? 3 Are there so many wonderful things to see that it pays to spend 2 days there? If so, what is the most reasonable and decent place to stay? We hear the Sheraton charges about $350/night. 4 Are their day trips or 2 day all inclusive trips through travel agents? If so, what do they cost? Report as inappropriate |

1) The flight to Iguazú costs about $260 usd per person, depending on high season, low season, etc. 2) From the airport to the hotel you take a taxi- I cannot remember how much that is. 3) There are many wonderful things to see in Iguazú! aside from the breathtaking falls, there is the Bird park, the Zodiac adventure where you go on a boat down the Iguazú river, and get a really amazing closeness to the falls!! and there are a few, great places to eat too! 4) If you are asking about the best hotel, then it is the Iguazú Grand, if you are asking about the cheapest (and decent!) I guess I could recommend Cataratas- which I know. Of course, there are others, but I don't know them. 5) yes, travel agents usually have all inclusives that are cheaper than getting all things separately. Try Wow or Curiocity travel. 1. Look at the website for lan.com. The rt cost should be 180 dollars if you book ahead. Do not use Argentine airlines, because your flight could be cancelled even if they are not on strike. 2. The cost for the remise from the airport to the park is 35 pesos. 3. The park costs 30 pesos per day;if you buy your next day together then the 2nd day is 15 pesos. 4. Two days are perfect for the falls, you will be able to see everything. The falls ae spectacular. Se the movie the Mission with Robert DeNiro. It was filmed at the FAlls. 5. The Sheraton is undergoing a remodel right now and will be finished by June. They will have new lobby, restaurants, spa, and new pools. It is the only hotel within the park and located right on the trails to the falls. The other hotel mentioned in previous post is very nice, but requires taxi or bus to the falls each day. The Sheraton rooms looking directly at the falls are more than the rooms overlooking the jungle. Prices vary according to season. 6. There are two day trips to the falls, but check prices between the tours and self directed tour. The tours vary in price depending if you take the bus(18hrs or fly 1-1/2hrs). You do not need a tour guide, the walks through the park can be done independently. Also, tours are available within the park. For example, the Grand Adventure(105 pesos) includes 2 boat trips and a jeep ride through the jungle. The train ride is included in the admission price of the park. To go to the Brazil side, you officially need a visa, but it's possible to go without a visa from the remise drivers in the Sheraton and other places in town. Hope that this is helpful. Cheers!! Because you are planning 1 year ahead, I think you should be able to get very cheap tickets to Iguazu. Our tickets round trip were about $240 each. You can take a taxi from the airport to the falls, and all other questions have been answered... I do suggest that you go for two or three days!! Iguazu is one of the most incredible places I have been to. Report as inappropriate

Ilana123,ricardoBA and estephanvia, thank you all so much for your prompt replies. Based on your recommendations I think we will spend two days there. If you have any other suggestions on what is not to be missed or the best way to explore the area, please let me know. Report as inappropriate
