Hi Sue

Does your twelve days include travel, or do you have twelve full days in SA?

If you are looking for another National Park then you might want to try something different like the Isimagaliso Wetland park and then go Scuba diving in Sodwana Bay that way you also get to see some of South Africa's marine life!

If you can get direct flights to CPT then spend your last visit in CPT otherwise you will fly out of JHB and should take a few days to see the sights.

Enjoy!

Yes 12 days traveling. There is so much to see in Kruger looks fantastic as does Cape Town. Suppose it's atop travel time consuming to do Victoria falls?

Hi Sue

Not sure if you have decided which way you are doing Kruger yet? That is self driving in the park or staying in one of the private lodges. Both will give you amazing but very very different experiences.

If you are planning to self drive and stay in the actual main Kruger park this gives you incredible flexibility to do what you want whenever you want and is very easy on the budget. You could possibly then stay a couple of days at the end in a more expensive private lodge for an all inclusive and more luxurious safari experience. While the private lodges are expensive they are often a good alternative when you do not have a lot of time available. I am not sure if that is what you mean by relax or if you are meaning more of a beach type stay, although in May it could be a bit cool for that.

I presume you are staying in Cape Town and not travelling down the coast so in that case you would really need to allow a few days just for the city. We had four days in Cape Town and could have done with one or two more. For Kruger you really need a minimum of three days, four is better, and if you really love the wildlife then maybe even more. Our first stay was 6 nights there, and now we do three weeks !

So that is maybe eight days minimum gone which leaves three or four days, allowing for flights. Vic falls would be a nice place to finish and there are some great relaxing places there, such as riverboats at Chobe and also some other nice game parks close to the falls. So although you would lose a bit of time travelling there it probably is doable, and doing at the end means you could maybe catch a flight back to JhB on the last day, presuming you are catching the six pm flight out to Sydney.

That's virtually your whole twelve days doing those three places so maybe have a think about if that's what you want or whether you want to spend more time in SA. However doing Vic falls at the end would give you both the opportunity to see the falls as well as possibly a couple more days in a nearby game reserve.

On our very first trip to SA we drove for three weeks and did safari at the start and finish. Because we drove the garden route from Cape Town we actually ended our trip with a couple of days at a private lodge in Addo elephant park. Although it was a bit quiet game wise after Kruger, it was still enjoyable and relaxing wind down before that long flight home.
