Hotel near Johannesburg airport for one night layover

I have a one night layover in Sept 08. Checked into City Lodge or Town Lodge but nothing is available. Can anynone recommend another safe place to stay the night? I'll be traveling alone. Thanks.

Emperors Palace, Garden Court O.R. Tambo International Airport (formally Johannesburg International Airport Hotel) with the latter being the most convenient. The following weblink gives you more options including guest houses - www.sa-venues.com/hotels/ga_jhbintl.htm

I found a place that my friend and I are staying overnight at on the 9th Sept for one night. Cheap, safe, looks good from review -havent stayed there yet! and have a free shuttle from Airport so no hassles about transport. We are going to give it a go.

Shoestrings airport Lodge - found it on roomsforafrica.com

Take a look see what you think.

Hi there,

I am just back from South Africa and was in the same situation. My tour company Safaris into Africa/Getaway Tours booked me into the Metcourt Laurel which is a hotel in a massive complex very close to Jburg airport. There are 2 other hotels in the same complex and I think Emporers Palace is one of them and the other is the Concorde,,,,? The rooms at the Metcourt were newly refurbished and very very comfortable, I read they were 3star which suprised me, I would have said 5star. Big gated entrance and enclosed in the one building is the casino, 3 hotels, shopping arcade and lots of eateries and restaurants - safe, new, high quality and affordable. Free shuttle bus runs every 20 mins to airport - go for it. Enjoy and if you need more info email "mooshi7@bigpond.net.au" to ask our tour operator, they were great.

For our night layovers we stayed at both the Southern Sun O.R. Tambo International Airport Hotel and the Africa Sky Guesthouse - I would recommend either for a one night stay. The Africa Sky Guesthouse includes breakfast.

We also stayed at the Metcourt Laurel for our one night layover and would highly recommend it. Very nice hotel at a reasonable price and a casino and shopping and eatries right in the complex that will keep you entertained. Also comveniently locate to the airport.

Hi

We are booked into Mondior Concorde for 2 x 1 night stop overs in May. Mondior is part of the Emperors Palace Entertainment Complex and has a free shuttle bus from airport to hotel. I believe Metcourt Laurel is a good hotel too as its part of the same complex.
