Resta Reef Grand, Marsa Alam

We're looking to book this hotel for a holiday during february half term for me, my husband and 13 year old daughter but Im a little nervous about the problems that have recently been reported on the news and the talk of further potential riots (although not in Marsa Alam). Weve spoken to friends that have been to Egypt and cant praise it enough. The hotels, food, and especially the people are all said to be amazing so just wondered if anyone has recently returned and how did they find it. Many thanks and fingers crossed for some reassurance !!!

We were out there last month. The hotels (Resta Reef and Resta Grand) are next to one another but are quite isolated, even from Marsa Alam town so the risk of riots is about as close to zero as you can imagine.

Thanks for the message. We're going to go for it and really looking forward to it now we've decided!! Only worry is that they don't seem to serve wine outside of lunch and dinner and I dont drink spirits. Might have to hit the cocktails instead though-lol !!!

We are staying at the rest reef, sadly we are off home tomorrow. We have had a wonderful time, would come again - no trouble here, of you do come buy some sea shoes to be able to go out on the reef - loads of lovely fish - oh and a snorkel. Have a great time.

Hello Sarah

This is Sherif, Hotel Manager @ Resta Reef Resort Marsa Alam.

Thank you for your above inquiry. As Alan mentioned, Marsa Alam is quite an isolated destination about 700km from Cairo, and has been quite peaceful all throughout the unrest during the past 2 years. You have absolutely nothing to worry about.

With regards to wine service, yes it is only during lunch and dinner, however, wine is on special offer throughout the day on a Happy Hour concept for bottles and glasses at a very adequate price.

We look forward to your visit to Reef next month, and I remain meanwhile at your disposal for any further assistance.

Kind Regards

Sherif Afifi
