going to stay at the resta reef, best place to change money
first time to egypt any more tips welcome

You'll get a much better rate of exchange in Egypt than here in UK.
This website will give you the current rate of exchange that you can expect to receive.
as HRG says get your money in egypt , you can do an exchange at the airport at the bank kiosk where you can also get your visa.
Have some hand sanitiser as money is dirty and dont over do the booze, sun and food in first couple of days as this the biggest cause of tummy upsets plus change in climate.
Staff like to be tipped but dont use coins as they have difficulty changing euros or sterling coins , so small notes or egyptain is best. Haggle if you buy anything -
Don't step on coral even if you think it is brown and dead - Invest in a good mask and snorkel , maybe a rash vest for protection and do a try dive to see what is underneath. There is a good dive school at hotel who do trips for divers and non divers.
There is not a lot to do outside but Port Ghalib has shops and resturants , the resort is not nr the town of Marsa but you can get to El Quiser a small Egyptian working town.
There are also trips run to Luxor , Aswan and boat trips to the off shore reefs and dolphin house plus quad biking, camel and horse riding
Otherwise this is mainly a beach hotel much quieter than the more well known resorts.
The shopping arcade in the Resta Grand next door has an exchange machine - you put foreign notes in and get LE notes out. Very convenient. There is also an HSBC bank at the top of the drive leading down to the Grand.
you'l also find a bank on your left as you enter the arrival building at Marsa airport. They sell visas here too - for around £10, depending on current exchange rate you may get a little change.

Hello Mark
This is Sherif, Hotel Manager @ Resta Reef Resort.
Exchanging in Egypt is most probably better for you.
You may exchange at the airport, or if you wish, next door at Resta Grand Resort (our sister hotel), there is a cash machine with a currency exchange function, it's a 5 minute walk from Reef from within the hotel.
Looking forward to welcoming you soon
Kind Regards
Sherif Afifi
