Bodyboarding? |

Bodyboards are available on Kovalam beach to hire, they are not too expensive ( about 50 rupees an hour - roughly 65p sterling). If you are only going for a couple of weeks then I would recommend hiring them from the beach rather than the hassle of taking them with you. The sea is ideal for bodyboards at Kovalam beach but it does depend on the weather ( the season begins in November but last year it was quite rough and rainy until the end of November - usually is is calmer than this) There are lifeguards who will advice you on whether to go into the sea or not. Hopefully this year will be normal and you will be able to enjoy body boarding from the beginning of November. I have tried to buy bodyboards in Trivandrum and have failed. If anyone knows where you can buy them in Trivandrum then please let me know as I would like a couple to have available for our guests to use. Have a wonderful time in Kerala Kadaltheeram

maybe you should try to buy inflatable body boards, then you can take your own at no extra cost. i have one, it is of a very good quality and comes with a pump. used mine several times in goa, fantastic!!!! try www. iwantoneofthose.com/s3-surfster i promise you they are really well made, and are NOT like a li-lo. they art are made with multiple layers of neoprene and really are of great quality. i've had mine for 6 years, and it shows no sign of wear. hope this helps to cure your problem, BOB

the surf is very poor quality on lighthouse beach so hire the boards on the beach is by far the best for a fun time. Certainly not worth taking either a surfboard or boogie board of your own. The beach profile gives a close out far to quick to bother with except in very rare times. I stayed there Jan and feb and never saw a day with a wave worth surfing that lasted for more than 3 seconds..alright for a muck about but not proper surf by any means.
