We'll be there in a couple of weeks. Is there a good place for a happy hour cocktail?

Well, Healy doesn't have that much - we do have a local bar - the Totem, but I can't really recommend that, though you would see lots of local colorful characters. :) For dinner (wine/beer) there is the Black Diamond Grille, which is near the golf course - they have great food. For anything else, you'll need to head to the Denali Park area - one of my favorite places is at the Princess Hotel - their bistro has a great deck (for sunny days) - overlooking the river and mtns . . . great margarita's and seafood nachos and I am sure plenty of beer as well. There are many good places to eat in this area. Lynx Creek Pizza use to have the best pizza as well as a very large beer selection - their quality has gone down the past few years, so I am not sure. I have heard it's getting better again. Not a beer drinker, so I probably haven't helped much, but I can tell you more good dining places if you need that.

Hope your replanning is going well! :)

Replanning, is coming along. We have decided to concentrate on the Kenai Peninsula, so that we aren't stuck driving in the car too much. (I know, that sounds odd to you guys that live up there!). We are going to try and do some fishing. Not sure if the salmon are in the rivers yet. I think it's too early? We have 6 days do "play" with, and can't decide where to spend them. At the moment, I am thinking 1 day in Cooper Landing/Soldotna area, 4 days in Homer, and adding one more in Seward (for a total of 3). Any recommendations/comments?

You've posted restaurants in Healy area before. I will search that subject. Now, I just need to go through the boards and write down all the recommendations, etc. If I can't find them, I will ask you again! :-)

Sounds like a good idea - I love the Kenai and I think you will enjoy being there and not running around - that's what a vacation is all about - I hope it continues to come together for you! :)
