We have just spent a fantastic week at Le Tahaa and thought we'd post some detail about room locations whilst we remembered. A proper review will follow once we get home.
We stayed in Overwater No 43 which I think was the second last one, there was one further out. This villa was fantastic with a completely unobtructed view of the ocean, it felt like you were staying on a boat. As far as the Sunset View bungalows are concerned you I would say 42 to 44 are the best as when the sun sets you can see the sun setting over the ocean. WIth the lower numbered Sunset OWB the sun will set behind the island which in my opinion is not quite as good.
The other great thing about the Sunset OWB's is that their orientation is the opposite to the beach...the beach starts to lose the sun later in the day when you have it on your deck. This is also great if there is a strong breeze as there was on several days when we were there....you have choice of either enjoying the breeze on the beach or staying out of it on your deck.
The Bora Bora view OWB's are a waste of money in my opinion...there is a motu obstructing the view and Bora Bora is really only grey outline on the horizon. I don't know how far away it is but my guess would be 10 to 20 miles. The Bora Bora OWB's also lack privacy as they are overlooked by the beach area where a lot of people spend their day.
We didn't see int the Beach Villa's but I would say you should ask for one in the high 50's as these will have a good view of the Island of Tahaa and the Ocean...all the others have a view of the OWB's from what we could see.
If you are staying at Le Tahaa and are in a "regular" OWB my advice would be to ask for one as far out on the pontoon as possible with the same orientation as the Sunset's.
Overall we really liked the accomodation at Le Tahaa, we are currently staying in the St Regis where the OWB's are huge and more luxurious (Tahaa's are still very luxurious) but Tahaa's have more character and the outside deck space is better.
An early insight of what we think of Le Tahaa vs St Regis. Tahaa wins the day for us...comfortably!
