Costa Rica money or US dollars?

I wondering that currency to take on my trip to Costa Rica. I can get Costa Rica money from my bank if I pre order it . But most of the prices I have seen are in US dollar.

Exactly, CanaTico.

Gauging the price of coffee by what is sold at Starbucks in Costa Rica would be like gauging the price of a pineapple by what it costs in January in Canada.

There's really no relationship between the price of an actual cup of coffee and what is sold at Starbucks.

In general - anything imported will cost more and restaurants and supermarkets that cater to tourists (and upper-class Costa Ricans) will cost more.

will costa rica money (colonies?) be bought back by a us bank?

argentine pesos for example are worthless when you get back to the us.

I doubt that any US bank would buy colones.

You can use your leftover colones to pay your $29 departure tax -- or -- go to the bank in the departures area and have them changed to US dollars before you fly out. Or both!
