I have rafted both for 5-6 times total. I have done overnights and just day trips. Both are beautiful. I prefer the Pacuare for its beauty. The Reventazon seems to be a more technical river with longer rapids. There have only been two times that someone flipped out when I was in a raft. First time was the guide on the Reventazon. We all think he did it on purpose. We made it through the rapids just fine. The last couple of times I rafted with a bad back. I was worried at first but had no problems.
Second time.....my husband went flying. The water was high and it was just the two of us and our guide Tara. Again, hubby thinks she did it on purpose but hard to say. She had been telling us that she thought women were better rafters because they listened to the guides. It was the trickiest rapid that you go through on the Pacuare and the water was high and flying.
I love reassuring people on the bus to the rapids who are doing it for the first time. Most are scared to death. After the first one or two rapids they are asking for more. It is so great to see their smiles.
I do not give safety advice, that is for the guides. People have asked me (on the bus) what they should do in certain circumstances and the best and only advice I can give is to just listen to your guide and react immediately. They are the guide and they know that river. Most of the guides are a ton of fun. The food is excellent and on the Pacuare there are some great waterfalls that they stop at to let you see and play around in for a little while.
Have fun.....you can do it!!!!!
