we are planning on going to costa rica/guanacaste area, in november. is the rain really that bad? where is the best beach area to stay at. we are planning on staying by a beach the first week and the arenal area the second. is this a good plan for someone that has never been to costa rica before?
November is a transitional month and certainly the later in the month the better for a good chance at nice weather. We are generally down there the week after Thanksgiving, and have also been there earlier in the month. The weather is unpredictable, but you shouldn't get anything too bad. Some showers and some clearing. The temperatures are cooler, which make for some wonderful early coffee drinking mornings, and sunset watching evenings.
Totally agree with David...some showers...not crazy all day showers most of the time...

This year, we arrived on Nov 1...have yet to see a drop of rain on the Nicoya. Chances are you are pretty safe from the rains.
We live in the Brasilito area, we like it because it is much less touristy than other areas, but close enough to everything (shopping, nightlife, airport, national parks, etc) should we tire of beautiful Playa Conchal.
