Running shoes Shop

Hi there,

What's the closest city near Montezuma where I can buy running shoes. Is there a specialised store in Puntarenas or should i go to San Jose?!

Thanks

I can picture a place in Cobano but can't recall if it's shoes or clothes/shoes. I just can't remember if it's men and women's. I really don't recall running shoes in particular. I think I just wandered in looking for some cheap flip flops (and I don't think they were cheap).

Plus, I can't recall if it was years ago or my last visit which was a year ago (a year this week, now that I think about it!).

If you're in Cobano facing the bank (facing the ATM machines), look to your left (on the same street) and I think it's right there on the next corner; it might be one more block down to the left (but it's between the church and the bank).

And there could be a store somewhere else in Cobano, but I can't picture them. I just checked an old issue of Zoom Nicoya but the ads are mostly restaurants and hotels.

If there is one in Cobano, I'm sure someone in Montezuma can tell you for sure. Your hotel might even be willing to call and see if they have men's running shoes.

I forgot, there's a "phone book" in the back of the Zoom Nicoya and there is a place in Cobano called:

Tienda Rios Zapatos y Ropa (River's Shoes and Clothes?), phone 2642-0046

I have no idea if this is that place I recall.

Looking at other local towns in this magazine (Paquera, Mal Pais, Santa Teresa, Cabuya, Tambor, even Samara) I see no other place with shoes listed. Doesn't mean they aren't there, but they aren't in this book (from June 2011).

FYI, this Zoom Nicoya magazine is great, it's about 80 pages (8" x 8") and in color and free, published 2 or 3 times a year. So check some of the shops in Montezuma for it (it covers the cities/area I listed above).

I see they now even have Zoom magazines on-line at

The used to have a web site, but not the magazines!

Yes, Cobano has a shoe store, the one that garylapointe is talking about. Yes, it sells running shoes, flip flops and has a huge selection of many shoes. The huge selections does not include runners though. There are some, so if you are particular about the type or band you want, then I suggest Puntarenas or San Jose. The International Mall near the airport has about 10 shoe stores.
