Zuma Tours- Beware or is it Be Aware

I wanted to relay what took place when we were leaving Montezuma on a recent trip

We arranged transportation with Zuma Tours for a Taxi boat to Jaco and van to San Jose as our vacation had come to an end. We woke up to a typically gorgeous Costa Rican morning and the Zuma employees were there to carry our luggage to the boat taking us to Jaco. All our luggage was covered in plastic bags, as is typical, in case we encountered any sea spray.

Our journey began on smooth seas, which began to deteriorate 3-4 miles into the journey. The plastic protected luggage was safe, but the 8 passengers began to get soaked. As the seas built to what I would call 3 ft swells with a 2-3 second interval, the journey was getting scary. I have fished many times off-shore in Costa Rica and never came across swells this big.

The Zuma employee escorting us, Douglas, had the boat stopped and made the call, "Head back to Montezuma!" Many of the passengers were upset as they had tight schedules and departing flights. BUT, the call was made, the danger was not to be ignored.

By the time we got back to Montezuma and off the boat, alternate transportation was arranged and we were again on our way. Seamless, Professional and Just Plain Right!

Zuma Tours lost money on this transportation sale, but I have a feeling it didn't matter to them. They did the right thing, thought of their client's safety, and not the profit they represented.

Thank You Zuma Tours!

Awesome post, I like those guys over at Zuma. I have used them on a couple of tours back in the day and was always impressed with how they do things. Glad to hear the standards and service are still top notch. Thanks for taking a sec to tell the forum about it.

Cheers

Thanks for the post! It really is good to hear that Zuma was using their heads in calling off the trip!

This story definitely re-affirms why I always tell everyone to get closer to the airport the night before your flight! Anything can happen! Less stress on your vacation is best!

Glad they made the responsible call and saved lives!
