We are an early 30's couple coming to Costa Rica for three weeks for our honeymoon. We are kitesurfers, so we have planned for one week at Bahias Salinas for kitesurfing exclusively. So far our schedule is tentatively as follows:
Fly into Liberia, arrive at noon.
Stay 4 nights in the Arenal area
Go to Bahia Salinas for 7 nights for kitesurfing
Drive to Montezuma - yes we know its a long drive:)
Spend 3 nights in Montezuma (but the first day will be mostly driving there), so only 2 full days to spend there
Leave Montezuma, drive along the coast to Samara for 3 nights
Leave Samara drive along the coast to Tamarindo for 3 nights
Drive back to Liberia to depart home to Canada
My questions are:
1) is 4 nights too long in the Arenal area? We want to zipline, white water raft, hike. No plans to go to Monteverde. But we would like to check out Rincon de la Vieja on the way to Bahia Salinas
Considering the Baldi Hotsprings hotel, read mixed reviews... and kind of pricey but so many others are already booked.
2) The drive from Bahia Salinas to Montezuma - are we crazy? We love to drive and experience the country - Canada is a big place we are used to long drives.
3) Montezuma - should we stay 3 or 4 nights there? Our first day will be entirely used up by driving there, leaving us only two full days there. Is that enough? Should we stay for 4 nights and take a day off our next location (Samara)? We will be staying at Agua Vista.
4)How long is the drive in dry season along the coast from Montezuma to Samara? - we also want to take it all in and not rush
5) We are booked 3 nights in Samara but would 2 nights be enough? We are thinking Casa del mar or Brisas del Pacifica (any thoughts?)
We appreciate any comments, advise and help!
Thank you very much!
Can't wait to escape this cold weather and honeymoon in Costa Rica!
5)How long is the drive along the coast from Samara to Tamarindo?
