I have found that there is a direct bus from the Coca Cola Station in San Jose to Montezuma and its departure times.
Does anyone know if their is a direct bus from Montezuma to San Jose and its departure time and duration for early December. Also, will it stop by the San Jose Airport?
Not sure about direct buses, you'll have to stop at least in Puntarenas for the ferry. To return you can take the bus, again via the ferry, to Puntarenas, then another bus to Alajuela for the airport.

Many buses and even shuttles leaving Montezuma all day long...maybe you just can take one from Montezuma to the ferry and then to the bus station to San Jose...and ask the driver if they can stop by the airport...very much the same information provided by Diver.77

The Direct Bus that leaves the Coca Cola Station and goes to Montezuma also has two buses per day leaving Cobano (a bus goes to Cobano from Montezuma about 30 min. earlier to connect)...leaves 7AM and 4PM Monday-Friday, and only one bus at 8:30AM Sat. and Sunday. This schedule may change a bit from Dec. to May, but it doesn't vary much. Best to double check this upon arrival so you can be sure to get the correct time of departure on the day you intend to leave.
The bus will stop at the Airport when it is returning to San Jose, when you board, be sure to mention to the driver that you want to get off at the airport, if no one says anything he may pass it without stopping.
Just to add to Wefish's excellent advice, when you get on the bus to return to the airport, just say to the driver "aeropuerto" as you are paying. He will then know to stop there.
There is also a direct bus, It leaves Montezuma at about 6:30 am and you have to change it Cobano where it merges with the Sta Tersa bus. Then it leaves Cobano between 7 - 7:30am.
The dirver usually yells out 'aeropuerto' but it does no harm to let him know also when you board.
The directo bus also goes on the ferry and is locked during the trip, so no need to haul your luggage into the ferr, but hang on to all your bus & luggage tickets. You need the bus ticket to reboard after the ferry, and your luggage tickets to reclaim it. Thankfully they are scrupulous about checking luggage tickets
