Hi,
I'm going to volunteer with Proyecto Montezuma. They usually have volunteers stay at the Hotel Moctezuma across the street. If you have volunteered with them or stayed at this hotel, I would like to hear about your experience. The one review I saw of the hotel has me concerned about noise at night.
It is noisy...very noisy...

Sorry for such a late reply, but yes - VERY noisy. Better to stay somewhere outside of town if you like peacuful sleep

Thank you, Amor de Mar does look very nice. I would really like a fridge, though. Do you know of any quiet budget places within 1km of Hotel Moctezuma with fridges (and preferably kitchenettes) in the rooms?

Within 1 km you have a few places, the most reasonably priced are:
Casa Colibri (bungalows with kitchen)
Flor de Paraiso (casitas/apartments with equipped kitchens)
Google them or send me a private message and I can find email addresses/phone numbers for you.
Both are nice and quiet
No many budget options...with Kitchenette...fridge...a-c...beach front!

GOOD NEWS!
Proyecto Montezuma now lodges all volunteers in a new, great spot. I was just there and the TEFL school and lodging for surfers, Spanish students, volunteers and TEFL trainees is right on the beach and awesome: Wireless Internet, Cable TV, A/C, fully equipped kitchens.
Now, no worries, for Hotel Moctezuma is crazy noisy!
