leaving resort/ hotel for dinner

Hi All--

Is it difficult and/or worth it to leave your hotel/ resort for the evening or to go for dinner? Any advice would be appreciated.

Go for it!

Not sure what difficulty you're expecting but we had no problems. We were staying at the little Plaza Yara hotel with limited dining options so venturing out was a necessity. We drove but sure a taxi would've been easy to arrange.

The Manuel Antonio area has some great restaurants with stunning sunset views and vistas so I'd recommend taking advantage of what the area has to offer! Where are you staying? Some resorts are more isolated than others.

Except for the marauding bands of jaguars known to eat tourists who stray from the hotel grounds, no problem.

Of course, no issue at all, Manuel Antonio is a very touristy area with cabs etc available if you don't have your own car. Your lodge will be more than happy to call one for you.

We are staying at Gaia or Arena del Mar. Just finalizing details with travel agent.

Both properties will have cabs avail if you wish to venture out. All the restaurants in MA are situated between Quepos and the park, roughly a 7 K distance so nothing is too out of reach. Arenas is down an off road, a bit more distance but I would not consider that a factor for the resort itself. Gaia is wonderful also, situated above. They are both great properties! Enjoy!

Arenas del Mar has direct access to the beach, great meals also. Gaia is far away from everything, and they are having lots of problems with their kitchen staff lately, thats why Arenas is way better than Gaia. Both of them need a car/cab to visit restaurants in the area

Oh come on. There hasn't been of a report of a tourist being eaten by a jaguar in months.

Oh you two.....we're going to have so many questions....about jaguars......for years to come......lol....and for everyone......yes.....leave your hotels at night and go out for dinner in the Manuel Antonio area and in Quepos.....there are many wonderful restaurants......talk to your hotel concierge, other tourists you meet and the staff at the restaurants about their favorites......(not just what they THINK the tourists will like, like El Avion).....have a fun stay.
