What a great trip and amazing experience!

Eleven of us met in MA last week to celebrate a special 50th b'day for Mr. Fifty. We arrived from CA,TX, MN and WI into San Jose with no flight problems. One group arrived in morning and one at night.

Both groups shuttled to MA with shuttle arranged by our concierge at Casa de las Brisas.

Travel from airport to Las Brisas was two and half hours with no stops for the second group that arrived at night. The first group that traveled earlier during day stopped to see the crocodiles under the bridge so the trip was longer.

One of our first initiations to Costa Rica and MA were the howler monkies. Although we had not a clue that's what woke us up the first few mornings. They had to be close at times because the "roar" made it seem like a big ape was right outside our villa. Great local flavor to start the day!

Overall, we loved that we hired a chef to cook for us. The quality of the food was amazing and there were no hassles with eleven people agreeing on where and when to eat and then getting there. Each night we had appetizers, a beautiful dinner and dessert. Our first chef was French, Stefan, and the food was excellent. My favorite entree was Steak au Poivre that we had requested his last night. We thought we would be disappointed when we could not have him for our last 2 nights but were very pleasantly surprised with our local chef, Markos. He prepared a fabulous Chimichurri that was a faviorite with all.

Our first adventure was a tour with Vacationbuggy. Don, the owner/driver, was very personable and knowledgeable. Luis drove the second vehicle and was a great tour guide.

We drove up into the rain forest and then hiked down to some waterfalls where we swam. The tour also included lunch with local flair at a local eaterie.

Next we crossed over an amazing suspension bridge over a jungle gorge. I'm not sure any of us really looked down as we white knuckled it across the bridge. AFTER we all made it over and back we thought is was an incredible experience.

Our next 2 adventures was with Mid World Vacations where we ziplined in the morning, had a delicious Costa Rican lunch and then went ATV riding in the afternoon. Can't say enough of how professional, respectful, and fun the staff was. Mario (we called him SuperMario) was our leader and really helped make the trip great. The rest of staff, Oscar, Freddie and David were also wonderful. Ziplining was fantastic and the ATVing was a blast. After a hike and swim down to a waterfall off our ATVs we came back to our machines with nice fruits and water to snack on. When we got back to "home base" we were able to rinse off, have some hot coffee and they threw our extra clothes in a dryer. What superb service.

The next day some of us took the bus (50cents) into town and later met the rest of us at the public beach, I think it was Playa Espadilla Sur. It wasn't real crowded on a cloudy day- we easily got chairs and umbrellas. The water was wonderfully warm with big waves to try and body surf. There is a good market next to Marlin's off the beach where we went for snacks and drinks that was very reasonable priced.

Our last day we hiked into MA park and then to another beach. As we came to main beach and we were walking to get to far end, we realized that we could take a path through the woods, mayb 50 yds, and came out onto isolated beach area. There was mayb only 4 other people there. That was a nice treasure to find. We enjoyed swimming again and relaxing. From there some of us caught a late lunch at El Avion on way back to Las Brisas. The view and food were good.

The next day we shuttled out to airport in 2 groups again but not before Mr. Fifty and last group made it to Aqua Azul for an early lunch and to bid farewell and Pura Vida to MA.

We thoroughly enjoyed our adventures, accomodations, food and the camaraderie of a group that vacationed for the first time together. It was great to come back after a full day to our wonderful accomodations at Casa de las Brisas and would recommend it to any large group.

Thanks for all the help and tips we gleaned from all your help on Trip Advisor before our trip. Perhaps someone else from group will add some of their highlights. PURA VIDA to ALL>
