Any public place to watch wildlife other than Park?

We are staying in a private residence in MA. We had hoped to see monkeys, sloth, iguana, etc. but this is the third day with nothing larger than an ant. Not even birds, unless you count a hawk in the distance.

We will visit the park once, but would like to know if there is any public place in the Manuel Antonio area where we would be likely to see critters, if we spent a morning/afternoon there. Restaurant? Public Park? We will be here for a week, and one out of seven would be disappointing.

Manuel Antonio is not a good location for birding. Drive up the road about an hour to Carara National Park and keep an eye out for scarlet macaws en route. Best in the early morning or late afternoon.

You could also take a boat trip or rent kayaks to explore Islas Damas, a mangrove environment a few minutes north of Quepos.

I have seen extensive wildlife hiking through Hacienda Baru without a guide.Sloths, monkeys, a range of birds and more. Its located just north of Doiminical, roughly 45 minutes south of Quepos. They have a $6/ entry fee. More if you want a guided hike. They also have a wild deserted beach that's an interesting contrast to the crowds in Manuel Antonio. Makes for an easy daytrip. Just be sure and try to go early morning or late afternoon when the wildlife is more active. Good lcuk searching.

You just can't count on those monkeys to show up on schedule......we'll go for three weeks with the monkeys coming by my office every morning between 7-8 and then later in the afternoon too.....then boom.....no monkeys for 3-5 days....then they're back......my point.....hopefully you'll see some wildlife around your house this week....if not.....happy hour around some of the restaurants like Costa Verde or Agua Azul......could do it.....good luck!

Hang out at the Byblos Hotel pool. If you just have some food or drink they will let you use the pool and this hotel usually has lots of wildlife hanging our there especially in the mornings and afternoons or evenings. Enjoy!
