Dear Brazilian...

Very simple...Puntarenas take the road to Barranca...only way out of Puntarenas any way...Barranca take 27 road all the way to Orotina about 35 minutes...even less..take the road to Jaco...Parrita...Quepos Manuel Antonio...that is 34....about 2.5 hours ride...nice ride all way...good chances to see some red macaws around Carara...also nice stop at Tarcoles river bridge to see wild crocodiles!

Thank you for your prompt reply. How much would cost a taxi to drop us off and pick up later? Is there a good spot with restaurant/bar on the beach?

Taxi I imagine would be pretty pricey, talking $100 each way give or take... You might want to try and find a tour operator working out of Puntarenas that offers a tour there. Chances are this would be the cheapest way to go and would most likely include RT transport, lunch, and park fees. I do not know who works out of Puntarenas but I am sure there are several options.

Good Luck

a nice vehicle taxi,,,can be around $ 250.00 round trip ,,,hopefully a red taxi offical taxi or a tour operator with official credentials...a lot of jokers around Puntarenas port offering the service...for some unknown reason they charge more and deliver less!

Puntarenas is nowhere near Manuel Antonio. As roadadvisor pointed out it's roughly a 2.5 hour drive each way to this beach and national park. If you want a white sand beach closer to Puntarenas you should try and find an excursion to Playa Blanca at Punta Leona, north of Jaco. There are many other beaches up and down the coast but the beach in Puntarenas is not particularly appealing. Organized excursions to Isla Tortuga in the middle of the gulf are the fastest route to a white sand beach.

If you decide to do this, I would recommend the private driver as well. You can stop to see the crocodiles at the Tarcoles Bridge, maybe see Macaws, have lunch along the way, etc. Depending on what you plan to do with your free time would make a big difference on which beaches along the way you would want to go to. Hanging out, Punta Leona is fine, surfing & partying Jaco fits well, doing great nature or adventure tours....head to Manuel antonio. Enjoy wherever you decide!
