Just returned from Manuel Antonio

My husband and 17 year old daughter just spent 8 nights in MA. We stayed in a wonderful house called Casa Blue Wind. It is a 4 bedroom place, but we were able to just use the 2 bedrooms upstairs. The house and with our own pool was great, but the huge veranda that overlooks MA bay was awesome.

Our first full day in MA was very rainy, so we headed down to Quepos to stock-up on groceries at the Maxi Pali and then spent the rest of the day enjoying the view from the veranda. Fortunately the rain subsided for the majority of our stay, so we were able to spend several days at the beach and explore the National Park. We also took a Mangrove Kayak tour through Safari Mangrove tours. It was fun to see the monkeys and a few other creatures. At the end of the tour we headed back to Quepos for a nice lunch that was included in the tour.

We only ate out for dinner a few times, since we had a nice BBQ to cook most of our meals. Cafe Milagros was a great breakfast place, only about a block from our house. We also ate at Agua Azul, which was very accommodating for our vegetarian daughter. One night we walked down to Mango Moon for happy hour, had a good 2 for 1 drink deal and some chips and salsa. There was a beautiful sunset view and then a large group of white faced monkeys came through the trees.

On Father's day (which was also our 23rd anniversary) we drove to Ronny's for dinner, but realized once we sat down that there was a very large family of about 8 adults and 8 kids eating at this very small place, we opted to just have a drink instead. So then we decided to try El Avion (even though I had read that it was a hit and miss as far as food), but we really enjoyed our dinner. It started raining with thunder and lightening, so we had a spectacular view from our table.

On several nights during our stay, the sports bar Biblyos, had a live band playing and we could clearly hear it from our veranda. Unfortunately we never did go check it out in person.

The Super Joseths grocery store was a little pricier than the Pali in Quepos, but they have a pretty good selection of food and fresh meat/seafood. It was a nice option for grabbing a few things we needed.

Overall our experience of MA was wonderful and hope to return some day!
