Night in Manuel Antonio & La Fortuna

This is probably going to sound like a strange question. Are stores open in Manuel Antonio and La Fortuna past 7:00 pm? We like to walk around and check out places prior to going to bed. I am seeking ideas for things to do from 7:00 - 10:00 pm. I do know both of the hotels we are staying at have swimming pools.

There really aren't "stores" in a shopping area in Manuel Antonio.....there are some tourist stores in Quepos....that are open until 8 or 9 PM......but remember....you are not going to Carmel or Maui or St Thomas......there are not cute "touristiy" shopping areas to browse thru.....no Starbucks or Banana Repbulic or Jamba Juice.......thank goodness.......you're in a country with nature and wildlife and the beach and volcanoes......not a 21 theatre multi plex......for the most part......you're up early......5:30 AM when the sun comes up and jungle wakes up.....and you're in bed by 8 PM......if you're looking for late night spots.....yes we have them....in Quepos....until 4 AM...but that's not why people come to Costa Rica.

Thanks for your reply. No, we are not late night people and definately not partiers. I am particularyly interested in walking around. St. Thomas is not my cup of tea!

You can go to the hot springs in the evening while at Arenal. A later dinner in Manuel Antonio can fill your evening. El Avion, Kapi-Kapi and the restaurant at The Falls Resort are all good choices for dinner.

Not sure about La Fortuna, but it is pretty slow for shopping at that hour around Quepos and Manuel Antonio. Best to plan for the day, and in Quepos not on Sundays, as most places are closed. For nightlife in our area, most go to Hotel byblos, or watch the signs on the main rd to the park to see who has live music or special events that evening. You will see in Costa Rica that it gets dark really early, so most people go to bed early and are up at dawn with the monkeys and the birds. Enjoy!
