Hotel and car rental near SJO airport

I will be travelling with my wife and two boys, 14 & 8, to playa Chiquita in March. We are flying in late, 8pm, to SJO and want to get hotel near the airport for the night. We will rent a car the next morning then head to puerto viejo then to a rental house in playa Chiquita. Would like to know a good hotel to stay in for the night and a good car rental shop.

Across the airport in Alajuela, you have a Hampton Inn and also a Holiday Inn Express, they also share the parking lot with some car rental companies. Most companies will deliver the car to hotels for free, just find a good rate that works for you. remember to ask rental companies to include the insurance in quote.

For a true home feel and very individualized attention, check out Eukaria B&B in Alajuela. Five minutes drive from the airport, fantastic hosts and overall great service for a very reasonable cost.

Adobe car rental has an office in Puerto Viejo now, which might come in handy if you encounter any issues with the car while on vacation.

Enjoy your trip!

Stayed at the Hampton in December and used Wild Rider for car hire. They delivered the car there for us. Great prices and service. They even set up the GPS for all the places we were going on our 3 week stay.
