I have not been there either. I will check it out.

Bikes are fine for those of you that are more experienced riders. But please know they are doing road work (hopefully paving... but no one is holding their breath) so roads can be dusty and bumpy right now. Just felt I should warn you.

Thank you all for the excellent advice! Colin, my wife and I were looking at Banana Azul, your place looks amazingly charming but unfortunately is just beyond our price range. We will be sure to stop in and say hello however! Also, any recommendations for budget-midrange restaurants? Aaaaaaand, I hear there is a secret waterfall within hiking distance from Puerto Viejo, can anyone confirm this? If the answer is yes, perhaps you could give me directions, I'll buy you a drink when I hit town in payment!

Dusty and bumpy roads? No problem! I'm an avid mountain biker and my wife can handle herself on a bike pretty well also.
