peace lodge |

I have 2 nights planned for peace lodge in May. I was wondering is this a good amount of time and what should we definitely not miss. We like adventure but nothing very strenuous. |

1 or 2 nights is good. Depends on if you plan on taking a tour to Poas Volcano, Doka Coffee plantation or other trip away from the lodge. For stuff on site, 1 full day is enough to see everything, but if you want to wander around more than once, which we did because my 10 year old was in heaven, 2 nights is better. Between the waterfall hikes once or twice, a couple jacuzzis on the balcony, visting the butterfly observtory (amazing), aviary, ranarium, serpentarium, hummingbird gardens, feline area swimming and all that stuff, even with 2 nights we didn't take any outside tours. Sign up for the nocturnal frog tour, it's free. Also, make sure your at the hummingbird gardens at feeding time. You can hold the feeders and they will perch on your hand. Also, I've never seen so many hummingbirds in all my life! Breakfast is not included in cost of the room anymore, so that's a big bummer. However, it's nice having breakfast on your balcony or dinner by the fireplace. We chose to do ala carte for dinner in our room, and another night at the Trout Bar. Since it was just myself and my daughter, this worked fine for us. If you have a car, you could try Colbert's down the road. It's a French restaurant that some people really love (and some don't, ha)!

We stayed there for the maximum 3 nights and were bored on the third day. We did the gardens when we got there and walked the falls the next morning. The second day was a repeat of the falls and gardens in the morning, and then we hung out at Trout Bar for rest of day. The third day I would have killed my husband if he suggested to do anything that involved stairs. Luckily, he felt the same way so we just hung out at the Trout Bar. You could also see from my review, I will not be returning. But the grounds are nice and the waterfalls are pretty. I was surprised at how cold it is there! brrrr!! Bring a sweater and long pants/jeans for sure! And comfortable shoes, there are a ton of stairs, which could be considered strenuous, but the view was very pretty. I would suggest a day trip to the gardens instead of a stay, as there are a lot of cool places in Costa Rica with Natural things to do and see.... for far better rates and in an area with more things to do.
