July travel to Playa Samara

Hi. We are planning a July trip to PS and need some advice. There are three of us, including an adventure-loving 14-year-old. Our plan is to stay 5-7 days, possibly at the Hideaway Hotel. Do you recommend Playa Samara at this time of year? Any activity ideas? We are tentatively thinking about renting a car.

Thanks from Wisconsin!

Really good idea...

The roads to Samara are in great shape...from SJO TO SAMARA about 4 hours of course by the Amistad bridge way...

During the month of July we have most of the time what we call The little summer of San Juan...basically is a slow down in the rainy season...great time to visit our lovely country...

Just rent the car and hit the road...

If you have time drive to Ostional beach from Samara...the littke one will love to see some sea turtles arrivaks...they arrive almost ever night...

Thanks for the info. We all love to see the turtles! We are hoping to fly into Liberia, which should shorten our drive,

Feel free to enjoy the drive from Liberia to Samara, stop and walk the plaza and main areas of both Santa Cruz, and Nicoya, get an ice cream, sit in park, watch the locals.

Even better if you fly to LIR...it is a nice ride ...no more than 2.5 hours even less...

You will love Samara beach...and the turtles can easily be the highlights of your trip...also a lot of monkies around ...just ask once you are in Samara....

There's lots to do in the Samara area so you won't have any problem keeping your teen - and you - happy. For more information: www.samarabeach.com

I would also check out the Samara Info Center - knowledgeable and helpful people. www.samarainfocenter.com

Agreed. Going back to Samara with our family (8 yr old twin girls) this february for our 7th year in a row . Kids NEVER get board, lament leaving, and ask continually throughout the yr when we are going back.

Activities for a teen: turtle tour (as mentioned), surf lessons & board rental for the week, ocean kayaking and/or satand-up paddle boarding, zip line near by, sportfishing (an inshore trip can be had pretty economically with a local on a panga boat), horseback riding......i'm probably leaving off a dozen other things.

Enjoy!

Samara , great place.

July no problem, a bit of rain, but nothing to worry about.
