Short trip. Should we make more than 1 trip to Arenal? Help

We are taking our 22 year old girl. She wants to zip, raft, and all. We can horseback, dive in Playa. What else can we do close? What is well worth the drive? We want her to love the trip.??? All help is welcome and thank you!!! We would have loved the Jaguar, Sloth sanctuary but they are too far. Please help!!!

Forget Arenal it's just too far a drive for a reasonable daytrip. Chech out Hacienda Guachipelin instead at Rincon de la Vieja for lots of fun adventures.

If you are willing to drive about 1 hour it is a nice drive to Cañas ...and visit the Jaguar Sanctuary...is by Pan Am Hwy...just a few meters once you drive by Corobici river bridge...

Incredible healthy jaguards and pumas there...worth a nice ride...also great food next door at La Paifica Hotel...

Don't know how long you're there, but we just got back from doing both Arenal and Playa del Coco and am glad we did both. It's true you can't (or wouldn't want to) do it in a day, but it's about 3.5 hours to Arenal if you drive straight through, so if you got up really early (easy since the sun's up at about 5:15 am!) one day, you could be there by 10 am, zip line at Sky Trek and do a volcano hike, spend the night, do an early white water raft on Rio Balsa or Rio Toro, and then cruise back to Coco the second night. Rushed, but possible. We spent three nights in Arenal and three in Coco and thought there was more to do in Arenal. Note that outside of fishing/diving/snorkeling, nothing happens on the actual beach at Coco. It's kind of muddy and quiet, not a beach on which you'll want to hang out a lot.

The Feline refuge in Cañas, about 1 hours east of Liberia is nice to see. A trip to Rincon de la Vieja Volcano can be interesting.

I love Arenal and if you can, you should spend one night there. It is one of my favorite areas in the country, among many. I love the zip line in Arenal that goes over the La Fortuna waterfall and another waterfall too, can't recall the name of it. The canopy tour; www.arenalmundoaventura.com/ing/canopy.html

You could do a guided hike through the hanging bridges in Arenal and spot more wildlife than in Rincon, but Rincon, near Coco, is beautiful too. If you are really interested in seeing a sloth, you should try in Arenal.

I have done several canopy tours and that is my favorite for the scenery and crew. Second favorite is the Sky Trek in Monteverde for the height and length of the cables.

There is horseback riding near Playa del Coco at Haras del Mar. You can choose from many dive shops for scuba out of Coco too.

Have a blast!
