There are no beaches in the La Fortuna area. Did I misunderstand your question?

Yup, no beaches, sorry.

You might try this hotel if you want to get the best view of the volcano.

many people do not realize tho that the volcano has gone dormant. Really too bad, as it was spectacular to watch at night a few years ago when we stopped there!

There are several options within walking distance in town in La Fortuna...here are my favorites:

La Fortuna Suites-newly opened and beautiful, quiet neighborhood, amazing hosts and contemporary rooms: http://www.lafortunasuites.com/

Hotel San Bosco-owned by the Volcano Lodge people but on a nice quiet street just a block from the main park:http://www.hotelsanbosco.com/

Arenal Rabfer-also just a block off the main road-quiet area: http://www.arenalrabfer.com/

There are many other hotel choices in town but the noise of traffic can be annoying.

Enjoy our little town!!!

We are currently staying at La Fortuna Suites, by far the nicest place we've stayed at on this vacation. The beds are sumptious. Great view of the volcanos from the upstairs terrace. Really nice, Bob and Jesse are wonderful hosts, so friendly. The breakfast and smoothies are just icing on the cake.
