Good hotel/Good location for single travellor |
|
Hi there Anyone got any advice on a good place to stay for a single female travellor for 4 nights in Shanghai at the end of September ? J |

Hi ellyse Just wanted to check, is it easy to get to the Bund and Nanjing area (or is that the same area) from the French Concession area in Shanghai ? presuming taxi's are the best way to get about ? J

Yes, definitely. I'd recommend using the metro if you're not afraid of the crowds. The metro is definitely faster; there's a metro stop on the People's Square end of Nanjing Lu pedestrian street and yet another in the middle of Nanjing Lu pedestrian street. It takes around 10-15 mins to get there from where I live (in the French Concession).

I am currently staying at the Ramada Plaza in Shanghai. It is right on Nanjing Street (main shopping street) yet it is quiet and very very very nice. I left my earlier hotel and came here. I am paying 160$ USD per night, but I am sure if I had booked and looked on line it would have been cheaper. Try www.elong.net for cheap rooms in China. I am also a single female travelor and LOVE it here!

Hi Ellyse:
You seem to know Shanghai downtown pretty well, and also know the hotels in that area. I would like to take on your suggestion on booking Seventh Heaven for 2 nights - check in on 31st Jan, and Check out 2nd Feb.
How would I book, and what places I can check out in 2 nights. Please note I am a single traveller, and would like to explore the night life.
-R from USA p.s. I wouldn't mind having a drink with you.

Hi I feel that Ramada Plaza hotel at JiuJiang lu just by the side of the famous Nanjing donglu pedestrian street will suit u well. Its a 4 to 5 star hotel n its among the most central hotel in Shanghai, easily accessible to most of the attractions.Look into their website.Alternatively try the Central Hotel which is also good within yr budget. Its also a very safe place n if u like a lot of people n activities this is the place to start with. Some of the tourist spots r within walking distance like the Museum.Urban Planning Centre,Concert hall,Shopping malls,Huai hai Zhong lu or popularly known as Champ elyse of Paris, the Bund n also Xintiandi all walking distance, with many good restauruants nearby too.RamadaTel:+862163500000Central HotelTel:+862153965000Both r classy hotel within yr budget.

Hi I had stayed in Seventh heaven Hotel before n several hotels in that vicinity. But i will advice u if possible try to stay at The Charms Hotel, not much more expensive but its bigger n the room is also cleaner with more facilities of buffet brakfast n reastaurantsRoom is also quite spacious with better lifts n nicer lobby.Seventh heaven is a budget hotel onlyslightly cheaper than Charms, but like i said its much more older n its a old building not properly maintained n very sparse in the room.Dont expect carpetiing or evn a little luxuries in it.I had stayed in its biggest n most expensive room b4 but its a big letdown. The sevage broke n u can imagine the horror of a flooded stinging bathroom.I actually should be bad mouth about a hotel but also against my consciense not ta say it out too..but if u still insist in staying there good luck maybe its better noe compared to a year ago..BTW Charms is only 3 mins walk from Seventh heaven
