I cant vouch for the other type of rooms like the guestroom as i had stayed only once in the Regency club room.its spectacular with the river n bund view.room is spacious n comfy with all the luxurious amenities.Its very nice only thing is pricey too.Cant say about the riverview room i guess they must be good as well.If u have the money to splurge of course it s worth it.Good restaurants n Cloud 9 ,can just while away the time looking at the sceneries below.n the barges,boats sailing lazily along the huangpu river.Hotel is a stone throw away from Oriental Tower,Superbrandmall n the hooters club,Aquarium n the metro.Its so convenient,basically not much to choose from between this hotel n Shangrila.

Sorry to say this hotel looks better from the outside. You will be very disappointed to see the view blocked by odd shape metal frame from the room. I also found the room design very weird and not user friendly.

If you fancy great view, Hyatt on the Bund is a much better choice or the Pudong Shangri-La if the Hyatt brand is not that important for you.

I wonder if there are different types of rooms there, for example riverview, cityview etc. and which one is better?

Huangpu river view where u can look towards Puxi is the best but there r rooms that have both ie view of the Huangpu river n also towards Oriental Tower.This is the ultimate view.

Shangrila has among the best buffet spread of various tastes almost all cusines whether its asians like chinese japanese koreans n also western.n indian with middle eastern food.Quite impossible to try out all that is available unless u have a 6000cc stomach!!!
