So, instead of Suzhou, I'm thinking of a different water town - which is your favorite and the most beautiful and unique for a tourist? Can you recommend a guide or tour company for a day trip? Thanks.

I liked Wuzhen, but I went with a student so had a "personal guide" (he was a real guide in the summer holidays). Avoid the newly created tourist site, which might be called the "west bank".

Anchang is also lovely, older - perhaps more authentic, but further off the beaten track. I never got to Xitang so can't compare.

There is a full day bus trip operated by Jing Jiang tour company that picks up from 3 locations and most hotels have their brochure.

I have visited a water village across from Souzhou, called Zhouzhuang, very pretty and quaint, there is an article about that water village on China Daily, Friday April 20, special supplement page, we were able to vist both Souzhou and Zhouzhuang all in one day.

I recommend Zhujiajiao :-)

Zhu jia jiao is very different from downtown. It still preserves the old buildings which have had hundreds years.

and you can get there very easy:

You can choose sightseeing bus( line 4) to go there. All travelling lines are in Gate 5 of Shanghai stadium.

( The ticket for you to go Zhu jia jiao is 12RMB/person)

about addmission fee:

ou can buy the ticket with the whole sightseeings there, it costs 60RMB, and don't forget to take a handbook.

(You can get the handbook in booking office)

If you have any other question, pls feel free to send message to let me know:-)

Hi babo,

it's not far from downtown area. ( one of my roommate lives near there)

It belongs to Jinshan District.

if you take the shuttle bus from sightseeing center, it's about 40mins you can get there.

you can check this www.chinassbc.com/ticket/index.asp…

it's about a one-day trip to fengjing
