Fiji for a large family (4 kids) - where to stay?

Hi there! Our family (children aged 2, 6, 9, 11) are keen to head to Fiji in Sept/Oct . We would love to hear of places/resorts to stay that would be family friendly.? Oarsman/Octopus/ First landing.? What others would you recommend. Not sure if we should blow the budget and do a toursity thing (eg Amunuca Resort / Treasure Island? or a more cheaper option which may offer a similar or better experience- we are used to camping!). Thanks for your advice. My email is stu.mich@xtra.co.nz for any photos of places people might have been to.

HI stu.michNz

I would have to recommend the Warick Resort, our stay there was from Boxing Day 2006 till the 10th of January 2007.It was the best 2 weeks my husband and I,oh and our four boys ever had. We hardly saw the boys during the day as they were kept occupied with the activity people,Fijian people love your children like their own. The staff at the Warwick are awesome, never without a smile and a hello(Bula). We plan to go back again in Sept/Oct and will definitely go back to the Warwick. The only bad point would be the travel from Nadi airport to the resort,it takes 1& half to 2 hour drive if you take the coach which stops at all the resort along the way.I would recommend to book your own mini bus to take you and your family straight to the resort(seeing you have 4 young children).I met a women called Fiona on the forum and she agrees with me on the Warwick, she is going there in 11 sleeps.(Lucky Girl). and she absolutely loves the Warwick and the staff. You would have the some problem like us with accommodation, they never have a room big enough for us.We had to book inter connecting rooms which I found were great, kids in one room, mum and dad in the other(well the youngest one was with us). Well I hope I was of help and you might decide to take the family there, what ever you choose going to Fiji is just great anyway.

Cheers

Mana is great for the kids too. You may be able to get a good deal with kids. Know families who also don't mind Plantation. Both are biggetr resorts. I'd prefer the islands to the Mainland ressorts but Crusoes is a n excellalnt smaller resort with an island feel, on the Coral Coast. Octopus might be worth considering too but they don't have a kids club that I know of.

Treasure is really great for families so if you could pick up a special

it might be a good choice. Or some of the travel agents specialising in Fiji only offer special deals.

Hi ho stu,

Have to agree with lovefiji..Jackie is right regarding the Warwick. It is a fantastic Resort that will cover all your needs and more. Your children will have a ball as did Jackie's 4 boys. If you are staying on the mainland then the Warwick would be the choice, we have stayed at resorts on Mainland before but now we only stay at the Warwick when we are on the mainland. The islands are just beautiful and a must to stay and see while you are in Fiji too.Castaway is beautiful if you have the dollars. Have you looked at The Funky Fish????...Brad and Rosemary own it and are fantastic people with a great resort on their hands. The prices and accom. are well worth a look.Have read great reviews about the Amunuca Resort too and they have great specials on so whatever resort you are looking at try to Google them and you will find their specials and you may find a great deal on them going direct.

Cheers....Warwick...9 more sleeps, but who's counting.

Hi there Stu, Suggest you check out www.travelwithkids.co.nz to find out lots of family friendly Fiji hotel options. There is detailed info on each hotel and you can read the kids activities, kids menus, room types etc. I know there is a special section for Families of Five and that may even help your family of 6 out. Happy planning and have a great trip!

Hello Stu,

I will be interested in knowing what you decide on. We have two teens and will be in Fiji Dec 08 for i week. Many comments I have read say to stay on the outer islands. I had heard good things for club Fiji as well. The price seems a bit steep to me.

Good luck!

Barb
