Good Place To Travel from HSV within 5 hrs or so?

ok, i'm reaching out to see if anyone from around here (in HSV) has any suggestions on a good vacation spot for a week in May somewhere within about 5 hours or so. family oriented. already been to Gulf Shores and Destin, Savannah, Charleston, Nashville, Atlanta, the Smokies....looking for something different for a change. we like to shop local, eat, tours, festivals, the beach,nature,pretty scenery,quaint places...things like that. anybody have a suggestion? thanks.

Asheville, NC is lovely!

New Orleans is a little further than 5 hours, but lots to see in the city, plus swamp tours and plantation homes to explore just out of town. Natchez would be beautiful in May and I really enjoyed touring all of the old mansions...maybe you could stop there for a day or two on your way to LA.

You didn't mention you had been to Memphis. Plenty to do there for adults and family.

Helen Georgia area is also interesting.

The islands off the coast of Georgia, Search St Simons, Ga. It also depends what time of year you are traveling. What to see foilage or go snorkeling?

yeah, been to chattanooga a bunch! forgot to mention that one. thanks though!

we finally decided to make plans to stop in mobile for uss alabama battleship and bellingrath gardens and then go on down to fort walton for a week in june so my child can enjoy the beach for the summer!
