One hotel or move from south to North?

Hi guys,

We'll be in Mumbai in March for 3 nights. We will be flying in and out. I was wondering if you think it would be best to go south two nights and see the attractions and then go and stay up near the airport for the last night to see stuff in the north and be closer to the airport for our flight home?

It looks big and I want to make sure we see lots and don't want to miss out!

Any help will be appreciated

Not worth it. Stick to South Mumbai. For one night, to change hotels and spend time travelling from one hotel to another will be a waste of time.

Hello aussie9082,

That is a good idea.

You can do the South attractions & stay South for 2 days and on third day while covering some attractions on way to North stay North near the airport. This way you can utilize your travel time(which anyways you will incur while travelling from South to North for airport transfer). Another advantage would be not to rush for airport at wee hours if the flight timings are very early or also not to get caught in traffic snarls to airport & can be sure to reach airport in available time if can mange to stay near airport before flying out. The traffic in Mumbai is most of the time bad and the anxiety of missing flight arises if struck by chance will also greatly reduce when moving South to North on the way& day of the flying out.

As just yesterday the T2 at CSIA Mumbai International airport was inaugurated by our PM and the traffic due to this was badly affected for more than 5 hours all around the WEH & roads around airport. So safer to stay if it is manageable near the airports on the day or night before flying out of Mumbai.

Thanks very much for your answers. I'm still not sure which way to go. I have seen that some of the attractions are on the way up north anyway so if we travelled up that way while looking at things it may be worth not going back south. Do you know how far in traffic juhu would be from the airport if we stayed there the throes night? Or is there somewhere better to stay in the north?

Hello aussie9082,

Juhu is about 6 km from Domestic airport & about 10km from International and travelling time in traffic from Juhu to the airports will be about 15/25 min.to Domestic & 25 /35 to International.(if the elevated road just inaugurated two days back is operational by the time you are here likely in first /second week of February opening to all )than the travel time will be reduce by about 20 mins from International airport.

Stay in south. Most of places worth sight-seeing are there. however, start early on the day of flight. If google maps show that you will take 30 minutes to reach airport from your hotel, think of it as 1 hour. Mumbai traffic is very unpredictable.
