The Taj Express has nothing to do with the Taj hotels. It is so named for the Taj Mahal in Agra only.

The Shatabdi is quicker (2 hours), but leaves Delhi earlier in the morning. If you are going to Agra for a day trip, you would be best advised to take the Shatabdi. However if you are going to stay for a couple of days, the Taj Express (3 hours) is less expensive and still a speedy, comfortable train.

Taj express just named on as this runs on Taj sector...there is nothing to do with Taj hotel groups...Shabdi and Rajdhani are the well known for better service in India. you choose Shatabdi for your Taj trip...

You should first determine whether you want to see the Taj at dawn or not. If so, take an evening train. The Shatabdi is a morning train. So is the Taj Express.

If you are taking the Shatabdi, then it leaves from New Delhi Station. If you are taking Taj Express, it leaves from Nizamuddin Station in Delhi.

Here are the train details:

Train number 2002 BHOPAL SHATABDI leaves NEW DELHI Station daily at 06:15, and arrives at AGRA CANTONMENT at 08:12. It has one stop in between, at MATHURA. The class in which you should travel is AC CHAIR CAR which is Rs. 370.

Train number 2280 TAJ EXPRESS leaves HAZRAT NIZAMUDDIN daily at 7:10 and arrives in Agra Cantonment at 10:15. It stops enroute at three places. The train fare is 266 for AC CHAIR CAR.

If you can't get these trains, there are several other options. Go to trainenquiry.com/TrainsBetwImpStation.aspx and check for more trains.

To book trains, you must use the www.irctc.co.in site. Please read this Trains FAQ section that RatnaPrasad has created on tripadvisor.

Shatabdi Expresss from Delhi to Bhopal (which stops at Agra Cannt.) is the fastest Train in India and ist reated as a upsegment train which includes Meals. Further you would also have the best interirors when compared to the Taj Express.
