I came on here to get a general over view or Lagos and Benin City. I am meant to be going there for 2 or 3 weeks between Jan-March, nothing booked yet will be booking in about 6 weeks so the dates are still to be confirmed.
There is a lot of information on here but its kind of scared me off going and scared me off the relationship I am having with a man from Benin City. He lives in London as do I his been her for about 12 years. We met at work about a year ago, knew each other about 9 months before anything happened but I've never seen so many stories of a nation of con men/women. His never asked me for anything, borrowed money and give it back (I mean £30 not £10k) but nothing what doesn’t happen in any normal relationship but I'm starting to wonder if all Nigerians are only with English girls for personal gain. I know this is stupid and I don't usually stereotype people but I'm starting to think I should get away from him before I get scammed! Are they really that bad? I'm more worried he has a wife (or 2) somewhere then that he is going to try and marry me for a passport (as far as I know he has the right to remain in the UK forever). Can I ask how do Nigerians as a society regard relationships? Are the considered important and honest like then are in the UK, of course you always get the bad ones who lie and cheat but that is the nature of beast. I could understand if he was talking c**p to me but we have had conversations in from of his friends and I haven't had any reason to think he is doing anything wrong but as they are all Nigerian or from Ghana they may not care about it either if you can see what I am saying.
Also regarding going to Nigeria, this was decided before we started a relationship as I love to travel and I have always been mesmerised by Africa and who better to show me around then a African? Am I going to get what I am looking for in Lagos and Benin City as the photos I have seen look like may parts of the world and run down and dusty not cultural places.
