1. Re: best place to stay

Best place is subjective and depends on your budget

You've posted in Kecil forum, so Bubu is my favourite. Anyway I prefer staying in Besar and go to Kecil to enjoy the evening with a taxi boat. In Besar I like Coral View, Abdul Chalet, New Cocohut

Milli as we were confused regarding 14th night spent at kota bharu or perhentian kecil to catch early 11 flight to Langkawi.

Friends suggest us the best option for the following question so that we do not miss our flight.

The trip for 13th to 15th Sept is such that

by 13th Morning would reach besut by train from kuala lumpur and then head towards perhentians Kecil

We have morning 11 flight on 15th Sept from Kota Bharu to Langkawi.

So need to start 15th morning early from Kecil to catch 11 o clock flight from kota bharu to langkawi ?

OR

On 14th evening leave kecil and spent night at kota bharu to catch next day early morning 11 flight to langkawi ?

6. Re: best place to stay

Yes, it's reef!

Thanks for the response! Matti80 : )

This is what TA is all about...."real" insight from a verified source. I hope! lol

So Matti I've seen you have posted a lot for Malaysia. I need some advice from you if you can help?

I'm going to be in Malaysia for 25 days. Most of my trip is booked. Thank goodness. I normally don't book in advance, but glad I did!!

I have 2 nights in KL at Trader's. is this a nice spot?? Do you have a better hotel to recommend?

After that off to Perhentians for (11) days

I will be at Bubu for (8) and reef chalets for (3) nights.

What island trips are the best from Kecil and Besar? Redang good??

I then fly KBR-KL-TWU for diving. I scored a Sipadan permit too!

I will dive and stay with scuba junkie for (4) days

That leaves me with about (1) week to burn. I will be in Semporna at this point, but I'm open for anything in the last week of my travels.

Is there a place/destinatin that you would recommend either in Borneo or back on peninsular Malay that you feel is a CANT MISS spot/activity?

Thanks for your response : - )

7. Re: best place to stay

Traders is my first choice in KL! I will be there in august, the only flaw is that they close the pool at 7 pm. I like also Shangri La, same group.

From any island you choose to start you can easily do island hop tour, the best snorkeling sites are Teluk Pauh, Teluk Kekek, shark Bay, Turtle beach

A day trip to Redang is higlhy recommended, nice snorkeling. Ask to Mama's Chalet in Besar, they arrange trips to Redang at very reasonable prices, maybe the cheapest.

If you have a week from Semporna you can take a bus or a plane to Sandakan, enjoy the city, Sepilok rehabilitation center, Turtle island and then 2 or 3 days on the Kinabatangan river.

Thank you for the good advice, Mattie!

If you ever need advice on Jamaica and/or California (bay area)I can help you!

any suggestions for the first (2) days in KL? I will keep my reservation at Trader's. do you upgrade to club level? Is it worth it?

What district in KL has the best street food in your opinion?

So you recommend sadakan and sepilok highly? What about the area north of Semporna for chance to see great apes?

Also, I wasn't thinking about a river trip, but Pygmy elephants in the wild sound amazing!!!!

Muchas gracias por todo ( :
