My husband and I are planning to travel to Uruguay (first time) for a month (in March) and hope for a restful time with occasional day trips.
We’d like to find a place somewhere by the sea (we are not sunbathers), without towering apartment buildings and streets lined with noisy busses, but rather a smaller town with some charm still offering all the necessities would fit the need.
At first we thought of Montevideo but it seems way too big for our peaceful vacation. Not much at all is said about “Piriapolis” on the forum but by looking at the map (and photos) it seems quite central, nice, and close enough to Montevideo, Punta del Este and others for day trips.
Rather then stay in a hotel or B&B for all that time, a self contained apartment in a good neighbourhood to hang out hat for a month would be just great, if one can be found?
Any comments about Piriapolis, advice, or tips from those who have been there would be appreciated.
