Karsnyk, Ivano-Frankivsk region, Ukraine.
I've just returned from a weekend stay in the centre of Carpathian moutains, Ukraine.
The area is around the Cheremosh river.
Here local Hutsul people live.
Hutsuls have preserved and kept colourful and cheerful Ukrainain culture and unique traditions.
We have stayed in a very beautiful place in the mountains called Dovbush Farmstead.
It is based in Krasnyk village close to Verkhovyna town in Ivano-Frankivsk region.
We got there by car.
Road from Ivano-Frankivsk turnes right in Iltsi village, some 2-3 km from Verkhovyna.
It tool us some 4 hours, however we stopped in Yaremche for coffee and tea.
Yaremche is some 60km from Ivano-Frankivsk, Krasnyk is some 125km from the city.
Krasnyk is located at the beginning of Chornohora mountain range,
one of the most picturesque areas in Ukrainian mountains.
Many tourists go there to climb mt.Pip Ivan with remaines of old mountain observatory.
There are some beautiful lakes near Chornogora range.
The highest Ukrainian peak, mt.Hoverla is also nearby.
Many people go to the Chermosh river for water rafting.
Dovbush Farmstead is owned by a very hospitable couple Vasyl and Vasylyna.
Vasyl is called Dovbush in the area.
He looks like a foamous Ukrainian folk hero Oleksa Dovbush. Dovbush was a Ukrainian Robin Hood.
Vasyl is a hunter and also plays at least 4 musical instruments, we liked him playing
violine and small sopilka pipe.
He is the cheaf Carols' singer in Krasnyk. Men who go singing Christmas carol in the village visit every single house,
even very remote ones.
His wife Vasylyna is a very good cook. Vasylyna is also a good singer.
There is hot and cold water, toilet and shower, washing machine, kitchen with all appliances, microwave, electric ketlle in the house.
There is a nice gazeebo in the garden. Some fruit trees. Bee houses.
Stream with clear water is some 15 metres down the hill.
They have chicken, rooster, sheep, goat, pigs and a cow.
Vasylyna can prepare meals for you or you can cook yourself.
All food at Dovbush Farmstead is natural.
The area is very beautiful. Anywhere you look you'll see nice mountains and forest of Ukrainian Carpathians.
I really enjoyed our stay and food at Dovbush Farmstead
and recommend visitors of Ukraine to spend a few days in this great place.
